FAQ
Why won't my microphone batteries charge from my Juno Tower's charge ports?
If your Juno Tower is connected to your computer via a USB cable, verify that you have the microphone drivers installed. To install the drivers, you will need to install the FrontRow Microphone Settings App or the FrontRow Desktop App (which includes the FrontRow Microphone Settings App). Be sure to agree to the prompts asking you if you want to install the drivers. You may need to disconnect and reconnect your microphone after installation.
If using a laptop computer and you have verified that the drivers are installed, verify that the computer is plugged into a power outlet.
If using a computer (desktop or laptop) that is plugged into a power outlet and you have verified that the drivers are installed, you may be using a low power USB jack on the computer. Try other USB jacks on the computer.
What happens if I close the FrontRow Desktop App while a file is being encoded?
First, you will see a warning that the encoding will stop and ask you to verify that you want to continue. If you choose to continue, the encoding will stop and the FrontRow Desktop App will close. The next time you start the FrontRow Desktop App, it will restart the encoding process and complete your recording.
Does the FrontRow Desktop App support fast user switching?
No it does not. If user "A" is logged into Windows and has the FrontRow Desktop App running and user "B" logs into Windows using fast user switching (keeping user "A" logged in and keeping user "A's" apps open), then opens the FrontRow Desktop App, it will not work properly. If using fast user switching, make sure only one user has the FrontRow Desktop App open.
What happens when I log out while a recording is being encoded?
When logging out, all of your open apps will be closed. When the FrontRow Desktop App is attempted to be closed by the operating system, you will see a warning that the encoding will stop and ask you to verify that you want to continue. If you choose to continue, the encoding will stop and the FrontRow Desktop App will close. The next time you start the FrontRow Desktop App, it will restart the encoding process and complete your recording.
When playing audio from an audio device such as an iPhone™ or other MP3 player, why do I hear background noise through the speakers?
Your device may be emitting a low level hum that is amplified by the Juno Tower. Use a filtering cable such as a ground loop isolation transformer cable to eliminate or reduce the noise. Contact your FrontRow reseller or FrontRow for details.
Why are my voice commands not being recognized?
Make sure there is not excessive background noise while you are issuing commands.
Make sure not to hold the microphone and do not speak directly into it. The proper location for your microphone is against your chest.
Make sure the microphone is not being moved around, and is not brushing on clothing, buttons or jewelry.
Make sure you are following the correct sequence when issuing commands. For help with voice commands see the Juno User Guide.
Can I use a USB extender longer than 5 meters when connecting my Juno Tower to my computer?
There are many factors that can affect the communication between a USB device and computer, so it is not recommended that you extend the connection between your Juno Tower and your computer beyond the cable that was provided with your system. While it is possible to use a USB extension cable with Juno, it is a high speed device so if you need to extend the cable, you must use a USB 2.0 or greater certified extension solution.
What is the Class2Class feature of Juno?
Numerous online resources such as www.education.skype.com, or programs such as Skype™, Adobe® Connect™ and others, provide the platform for your distance learning experience. However, audio is often a forgotten – yet crucial - component. Without a FrontRow system (such as the all-new Juno), teachers are forced to rely on the sound coming from their laptop or interactive whiteboard speakers. That means that during a video conferencing call, the teacher and students must crowd around the teacher’s laptop to hear what’s going on.
Alternatively, when FrontRow is used, the sound is projected evenly throughout the room and everyone can stay at their own desks to hear everything. All audio from the teacher and student mics is captured and clearly projected back to the other participants. The pass-around mics are especially helpful – students can ask questions of the people on the other end of the call, creating a more engaging, collaborative experience.
When the Class2Class feature is enabled, Juno ensures clear, echo free communication between 2 or more classrooms that are using Juno to communicate.
What are the voice commands used with Juno?
There are six voice commands used with Juno:
- "Increase" - Increases the volume by two steps
- "Reduce" - Increases the volume by two steps
- "LCD" - Locks / unlocks the LCD screen
When using the Juno Lesson Capture App
- "Begin" - Starts a recording or resumes a paused recording
- "Suspend" - Pauses a recording
- "Finish" - Stops, encodes and automatically names a recording
