About Us
FrontRow's history extends back to 1963, when its founders began building electronics in Palo Alto, California to improve comprehension for elementary school children.
Over 45 years in education has taught us a thing or two
Since 1963, we've been using our extensive acoustic and audiological experience to help teachers bring learning to life. Our systems are designed with a deep understanding of speech intelligibility, childhood development, evolving technology, and real world usability. FrontRow classroom amplification systems can vastly improve a teacher’s clarity so that children in the back of the classroom hear as clearly as those in the front. FrontRow products are practical, cost-efficient solutions for improving instructional quality in over 60 countries and tens of thousands of classrooms worldwide.
There are many obstacles to learning. We believe communication shouldn't be one of them.
There's overwhelming evidence that improved classroom sound quality builds student comprehension and test scores and greatly reduces behavioral problems. That's why the people of FrontRow have worked for decades to make sure every teacher's voice is heard.
The fact is, we build great products, but teachers are the ones who bring learning to life. It's a big job. Hopefully we can make it easier.
A history of quality
Headquartered in Petaluma, California, FrontRow is a division of Phonic Ear — whose wireless technology has helped build more engaging learning environments for hearing-impaired children for decades. Since 1990, the company has used classroom amplification technology to improve students’ listening success — resulting in better behavior, comprehension, test scores, and teacher vocal health. In 2005, it created the FrontRow division with a new mission to focus exclusively on this important task. It is the only ISO-registered supplier of classroom amplification technology in the market. In addition, Educational Underwriters has vetted the research behind FrontRow products.
FrontRow is part of the William Demant Group, founded in 1904 as a hearing aid company. Listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange (CSE3247), William Demant comprises a group of international companies that develop, manufacture, and sell innovative and highly advanced technological solutions in the hearing healthcare and educational field. Through 45 Group companies located in over 20 countries, consolidated group sales exceed US$1 billion.
Our California engineering team designs and develops products specifically for the classroom.
Quality is in
